Honoring Avi Kwa Ame

Letter from the Director

Dear NVOBC members and NV outdoor community,

In the last few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of connecting and re-connecting with colleagues in the outdoor space. At the end of September Travel NV broke ground on the new Boulder City Adventure Center, and last weekend Friends of Avi Kwa Ame held a Gala at Walking Box Ranch under the beautiful desert sky. Seeing friends and colleagues spend quality time together celebrating these exciting accomplishments was inspiring.

Looking forward, Travel NV will be breaking ground on the Carson City Adventure Center and Southern Nevada will have its very first Pedal Fest! NVOBC will be present at both events, and we hope to see you there 🙂

Sincerely,
Mandi Elliott
Executive Director, Nevada Outdoor Business Coalition

Evening of Desert Delights
Avi Kwa Ame Gala

friends of avi kwa ame

Avi Kwa Ame was designated as a National Monument in 2023, and the people of Nevada couldn’t have been more thrilled. After years and years of advocacy, collaboration, education, and countless volunteer hours, the coalition who supported Avi Kwa Ame could celebrate the good news!

But, the work didn’t end there. In the two years since the designation, Friends of Avi Kwa Ame have gathered support from over 100 members, held events, initiated conservation projects, and accumulated over 10,500 volunteer hours for the Monument.

If you’ve never been to Avi Kwa Ame, you’re missing out! Drive down to Searchlight and visit Walking Box Ranch, camp under the stars at Wee Thump, or take a back country drive. There is so much beauty to behold.
