Letter from the Director
Dear NVOBC members and NV outdoor community,
Several projects have now been wrapped up, and we are looking onward to new initiatives!
Our grant application to the USDA has been submitted, and we should hear in the early summer months whether or not we will be awarded RBDG funds. If we are successful, it will be the first step to opening our Revolving Loan Fund for outdoor industry businesses!
The Travel Nevada Pitch Competition also wrapped up last week at Rural Roundup 2025. I was very excited to lead the workshop for the 2nd annual competition, and look forward to providing tourism business education to more participants in the future.
For the rest of the year, the NVOBC is going to re-engage with member focused events and advocacy. If you have a few minutes, please fill out the two forms below so we can accommodate everyone to the best of our ability!
As always, I love to chat with the OREC community. Please reach out (mandi@nvobc.org) and let’s grab a coffee!
Sincerely,
Mandi Elliott
Executive Director, Nevada Outdoor Business Coalition

Pioche Old School House wins the Travel NV Pitch Competition!
After an intense weekend workshop, a month of crafting and editing her pitch, and a nerve-wracking presentation in front of the NV tourism community, CaraLee Frehner of Pioche Old School House won the Travel NV x SBDC Pitch Competition!
P.O.S.H. is the new boutique accommodation in Pioche, Nevada. Frehner and her family purchased the old elementary school building and are in the middle of a luxury renovation process that will turn the building into a historic hotel. While the renovations are still underway, P.O.S.H. is available for events (such as weddings, reunions, and more) on the grounds.
Along with the winning title, P.O.S.H. will receive a $20,000 prize from Travel Nevada and a lifetime membership to Tourpreneur services. Congratulations to P.O.S.H.!
